Marayoor

This area is most known for its sandalwood trees. Being the only place in Kerala where you can find natural growth of sandalwood trees, it is a protected area. The forest department runs a sandalwood factory here. Another captivating feature of the place are Muniyaras – caves. There are wall paintings and sculptures from the New Stone Age Era. It is inhabited by tribals.

Marayoor also has a children’s park and a huge banyan tree. Close by, you’ll find the Thoovanam waterfalls and the Rajiv Gandhi National Park.
